The Sherman Thomas STEM Academy, catering to students in grades 6-8, focuses on providing a specialized program, with a college and career emphasis. The goal is to ignite a passion for the principles of the subjects of STEM: Science (hypothesizing and investigating), Technology (innovations that improve a task), Engineering (design specific to a task and iteration), and Mathematics (perseverance, problem solving, and “making sense of the world”). These principles can be applied to a wide range of potential careers and go beyond the typical “STEM fields.” We want to foster curiosity.
