Programme d'études

Math: The instruction and materials of mathematics aligns to the California-adopted Common Core State Standards. We use the curriculum Math in Focus, Singapore Math by Marshall Cavendish, distributed by Houton Mifflin Harcourt (Courses 1-3)

History: The instruction and materials of history aligns to the California History-Social Science framework. We use the curriculum, IMPACT California Social Studies, distributed by McGraw Hill Education (grades 6-8).

English: The instruction and materials of English Language Arts aligns to the California-adopted Common Core State Standards. We use supplemental materials, including but not limited to, novels and online resources. All grades read a minimum of five novels, with lessons created by teachers that are rigorous, relevant, and align to the common core standards.

  • 6th Grade Novels: Horten’s Miraculous Mechanisms, Percy Jackson: Lightening Thief, City of Ember, Prince Caspian, Artemis Fowl, The One and Only Ivan
  • 7th Grade: King Arthur, Little Women, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, A Christmas Carol, The Hobbit
  • 8th Grade: Carry On Mr. Bowditch, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass an American Slave, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Frankenstein (Graphic Novel), The Westing Game, The Giver, Animal Farm

Science: The instruction and materials are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). California has delineated the middle school (6th-8th grade) NGSS by grade level. As we are teaching all national standards each year, we will therefore be covering all state standards for each grade, each year. California state approved NGSS standards will be spiraled through each year. Our daily instruction model gives us an additional 85-325 minutes of science instruction each week over the instructional minutes of a traditional middle school – based on a traditional middle school having science once a day for a 55 minute period, and STA having a science block four days a week for a minimum of 90 minutes per day, in addition to many Fridays being a four hour hands on block of time for project based learning, which will incorporate science and other disciplines.

Proposition 28 : Les arts et la musique à l'école

On November 8, 2022, California voters approved Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools (AMS) Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. The measure required the state to establish a new, ongoing program supporting arts instruction in schools beginning in 2023–24
